  • 1st time he bounced it in.
  • Last year he airmailed it over the catcher’s head

Hands f. Thomas Rhett

Country artists always talk about their “radio tour” from their rookie days.

The radio tour is when country music newbies hit the road to meet as many radio people as possible.  Usually they play a few songs, answer a few questions … and just move on.

Not in Providence …

Here is country music newcomer Thomas Rhett (son of Rhett Akins) on his radio tour stop at Cat Country.

Open Mic Mandy

You’re nobody in the radio biz until you let something slip that was never meant to go over the air.

Welcome to the business, Amanda!

Amanda’s first slip just happened to be in front of a group of invited guests.  Certainly Jess and Brian are there for her, right?

Blake Shelton in Spin it Again

Every weekday morning – Jess, Brian & Amanda let a Cat Country fan spin the “workday wheel” to choose the 1st song of the workday.  If the fan doesn’t want that song, they can spin again.

What do you think would happen if a country music superstar heard themselves being passed over for another artist?  They might want to call in and chat about it.

Just ask Blake Shelton

Amanda’s High School Secret is Out

Everybody has stories from high school that they would would just stay back there – behind those double doors.

So imagine the sheer terror Amanda must have felt when Jess accidentally discovered she had a high school crush on “radio Brian.”  CREEPY!  Jess’ amusement soon turns to annoyed when she convinces herself Amanda is favoring Brian over her on morning show decision.

Oh Boy … it’s like a regular soap opera these days.

  • Who was Jess’ high school crush?
  • What does Brian hope happens to “girls like them” (Jess & Amanda)?
  • What can do single women like Jess & Amanda not be expected to do?

It’s been a year since Jess, Brian & Amanda have been allowed backstage at a Cat Country concert.  Makes you wonder:  Did they learn their lesson?

We’ll find out in this episode, centered around Cat Country’s annual “Snowball” concert in Cranston, RI.  This year, the headliner is Joe Nichols.

  • Why did they get banned from backstage in the first place?
  • Is Briget aware they are back-in?

Amanda Hits The Small Screen

Ahh .. TV, the boob tube, small screen, idiot box, etc.

Every now and then, local TV will invite radio personalities onto their talk-shows.  We all get to act chumy and its’ great cross promotion for both.  Radio people love doing it.

So what happens when only 1 of the 3 Cat Country morning people is invited onto Channel 12′s “Rhode Show” to talk about the Cat Country Snowball?

You might be surprised to learn that it causes a near poignant moment between the Jess & Brian.  Good thing they’ve got that bickering thing down to lead them away from it.

  • Why was Amanda the only one invited?
  • What work is Brian making money on – every time he mentions it on the air?
  • Did Jess really compare herself to Meg Ryan?

All those questions will be answered and more, on this episode of THIS IS CAT COUNTRY

Brian – How I Really Met My Girlfriend

With all the old ladies calling in – constantly professing their love for Brian – Jess & Amanda are convinced that Brian is the type of guy who “researches well with the 70+ crowd”

So how do you explain his really cool girlfriend, Carla?

This is the story of how Brian really met his girlfriend.  Of course, you may have more questions than answers after watching:

  • What did Carla do when she worked for Cat Country?
  • Were any corporate policies broken when they first started dating?
  • Wasn’t this last decade a little “late in the game” to have a mullet?

THIS IS CAT COUNTRY.

Montgomery Gentry in “My Town”

You’d think we could book a band, have some lunch … and avoid all the drama.

Not so fast … This is Cat Country!

In the Season 2 premiere, Country super-duo Montgomery Gentry is making a stop in Providence … where it is revealed that someone on the Cat Country Morning team was a founding member of Montgomery Gentry – and their departure from the group was ugly.  Thank you Wikipedia.

  • Just how awkward will their first meeting be since the break-up?
  • Who’s only in it for the sandwiches?
  • Who was seen stuffing their luggage into MG’s tour bus?
  • Who was Lady Antebellum before there was a Lady Antebellum?

It’s good to be back with a whole new season of adventures with Jess, Brian, Amanda and Briget.

Blooper and Outtakes From Season 1

Holy spring cleaning, Batman:  It’s almost time for a new season of THIS IS CAT COUNTRY.

The new season begins on March 26 with a special episode starring country music icons Montgomery Gentry.

While you wait patiently for that, we have prepared a bloopers and outtakes reel featuring some never before seen footage from season 1 (never seen for GOOD reason!).

This episode is hosted by local singer/songwriter Kiley Evans – who’s song “Johnny Depp” is the theme for THIS IS CAT COUNTRY.

Remember … the footage that follows is raw and unedited.  Those with a low tolerance for bad acting should look away.
